My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Mysisterskeeper

This novel is about a young girl, Anna, who has been conceived and born to live so that her older sister she loved so dearly, Kate who has a rare kind of cancer, would live. Knowing that very reason, she hasnt complained until its already her Kidney her sister needs which means her life would also be at risk...

This novel intrigued me so much, I didnt have second thoughts on getting my hands on it. Well, it was worth the time, even though its my first to read a Picoult book. It's actually packed w/ all of it. Family, romance, thrill, action, soul and love. And mind you, a box of tissue.

Friendster vs Cyworld

Cyworld81007

Friendster VS Cyworld???

Friendster, for me, has a big advantage since most of my friends and families have accounts here. Easily contact and see what's happening to their life. See how they do and all... and its all pinoy to the bones... Uhmm, technicallywise, I could also costumize it as i like it without spending a dime. And Internet Explorer, Netscape and all other explorer browser friendly...

On the other hand, Cyworld, is nice too. First, the lay-out itself clicked to me. The notebook style, very cute. But it's all in korean, the language, menus and everything. Only the language thing can be changed to either English and Korean, a plus. But the thing is, only the menu and your text-input can be changed, hehehe... Well, if i couldn't read their characters, I wouldn't have registered. But what i like about it is its over-all page designing thingy. You can put and add whatever you like. Design it however you choose as long as you have money to pay for it, not that I have much but I was able to manage and chipped from my own earnings. Well, it has its own photo editor, very friendly, so you dont have to edit it your pics from your PC's photo editor, if u have one. And it has a video uploader and editor as well, just like the Microsoft Movie Maker but more features. You can even add music or jukebox player, just that you'll have to pay for the song you'll have to add. Ebooks, games, manhwas, etc are also to be bought so you could add it in your hompy.

Well, for now, these are the two that keeps me busy when im online. Not to be proud of, I know. Just get lazy and all when im surfing. I watch dramas, movies, music vids or just random stuffs but i couldnt leave behind these two. Say, I'm a junkie, not really news but Im all that.

Anyways, if you're curious or just wanna check my hompy, here's my add, http://www.cyworld.com/buffyreg . You'll have to disable pop-up this time so my hompy would appear. If you want to comment, you'll see 3 blanks: Name, Password & Comment, just put whatever you like, you dont have to register. Thanx

Jeon Ji-hyun now Gianna Jun

What's in a name? The news was released earlier this month, but I only managed to stumble upon it today: the Sassy Girl, Jeon Ji-hyun, has adopted a new name for her first excursion into Hollywood filmmaking. She could have chosen worse -- Gianna is a pretty name, and apparently she chose it because it sounds similar to her name being called in Korean ("Jihyun-ah!" -- though in that case the stress would be on the last syllable). I'll try to ignore the fact that it also strongly recalls for me the word "Giordano" (the fashion label that she has modeled for all these years). Certainly Gianna will be easier for most Westerners to remember and pronounce than Ji-hyun.

For those who haven't heard, Jun is taking the lead role of Saya in Jjh Blood: The Last Vampire, which is an English-language, live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese anime. The film opens production this month in Argentina, before moving to Los Angeles and China for further shooting. It's scheduled for a release in summer 2008.

As an aside, I'll be really curious to see how much interest the film stirs up in Korea. Korean viewers showed absolutely zero interest in Park Joong-hoon's supporting role in The Truth About Charlie in 2000, and more recently, The Curse of the Golden Flower (no Korean stars) sold considerably more tickets than Battle of Wits (with Ahn Sung-ki) or The Promise (with Jang Dong-gun). But Blood is arguably the highest-profile international casting ever for a Korean star.

I have mixed feelings about referring to our starlet as Gianna. If I were her manager, I would most certainly have encouraged a name change. With the exception of Chow Yun-fat or Zhang Ziyi, who had a $100 million box office hit in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to back them up, most Asian stars find their careers to progress much more smoothly with a new name. I was just listening to a radio broadcast yesterday when Kal Penn ("Kumar" from Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle) was saying that the number of scripts he received jumped up immediately after he simplified his name.

On the other hand, one of the biggest reasons Westerners have problems with Asian names is because they aren't sufficiently exposed to them. If she were to become famous in Hollywood with her name still intact, it would represent a minor victory of the sort worth cheering about. Personally I like the fact that I can write about all these Korean stars and directors using their real names.

But admittedly, Hollywood stars all change their names, too. It's not like Winona Ryder was born with that name. And sure enough, Jeon Ji-hyun's real name is Wang Ji-hyun, which in Korean is, well, just not sexy. Maybe I should change my name too? (It sounds pretty hideous in Korean)

Clubbox Downloading Tutorial

♥ Here's a simple Clubbox Downloading Tutorial for those who'd been asking me on how to download from CB or Clubbox. Hope maintindihan nyo.

Clubbox is a korean network sharing software. Its just one of the many fast sharing programs used by koreans and non-koreans all over the world simply because its a freeware. But one basic reason that many uses this one, is also because kahit you are using the free account, you can still download faster than any other internet sharing networks. Kaya lang, for the moment daw, it only works w/ Windows Internet Explorer. Just click the image to view larger/clearer.

  1. Download the Installer. Click this ~> Etc01  ~> Run ~> Install...
  2. Go to a certain clubbox account where you want to download. [ex. http://clubbox.co.kr/dfansubs ]
  3. Then, choose among the folders at the left corner of the page by clicking the most relevant title of the folder to the file/s you want to download. Eventually, the files will appear at the center. Now, click the square button/s at the left side of the filename you want to download. Then click the download button (the one w/ the light-blue arrow).Cb1_2
  4. This confirmation pop-up will then appear, click download.Cb2_2
  5. Another pop-up will appear, wait till it disappers in a few minutes... In any case it doesnt go away, just press Alt+left arrow, then Alt+right arrow, the clubbox download manager [step no.6] will appear.Cb3_1
  6. Clubbox download manager will pop-up. You may hide it in your taskbar by clicking [X] so could continue any other things you are doing whilst downloading.Cb4_1
  7. Now, hope it helps... Enjoy!

♥ By the way, here's a website where you can find clubbox accounts and files easily. http://211.114.58.181/irss-fast/index.php

♥ Any questions should be posted as comments here or in my friendster profile so i could easily answer it.

♥ All of this is made by me, Gigi/Buffyreg, so please do not take these infos elsewhere. Pretty please...

♥ Thank you

[News] Eric and Eunhye - Too Much Power for the Small Screen

Ericeunhye

The two most successful singer-turned-actors, Eric and Yoon Eun Hye, are under possible considerations as the next new big couple of dramas. They are the top two most likely possibilites as the main leads of the upcoming March MBC drama, 'Que Sera Sera'.

Although Eric has been officially finalized as the main male lead, Yoon Eun Hye's representatives stated, "It is true that it ['Que Sera Sera'] is one of the dramas that Yoon Eun Hye is considering as her next project. Nothing has been decided yet."

'Que Sera Sera', which will follow a more mellow/romantic theme, is being produced/directed by Kim Yoon Chul, who gained popularity with his 2005 hit, "My Name is Kim Sam Soon'.

Eric and Yoon Eun Hye, who are actually [singer]colleagues (eric being the 'sunbae'/older, yeh being the 'hoobae'/younger), are gaining a lot of attention right now. Both started their careers as members of a pop group and both have evolved themselves into extremely successfully entertainers.

Eric, who first debuted with 'I am Running', did not gain much attention as an actor. However, after his role in 'Phoenix/Boolsae', he shot to fame as the new 'it' guy, making him one of the most sought out actors in the entertainment industry. He found more success with his other dramas, 'Super Rookie' and 'Invicible Parachute Agent'. He was currently signed as the highest paid actor to model for a certain clothing company. He will be making a comeback to MBC after 1 year.

Meanwhile, Yoon Eun Hye has earned the support and love of viewers and netizens through her hit drama, 'Goong'. She became a popular female icon in 2006 through cfs and her second drama, 'The Vineyard Man'. Yoo Eun Hye is rapidly climbing the success ladder and being recognized as a serious actress. Many are anxious to see her join hands with Kim Yoon Chul to produce her next work.

If they are indeed finalized as the main characters, Eric and Yoon Eun Hye will be idolized as the new 'power' couple. Many are anticipating to see two actors, who share so many similarities, bond together in the small screens. Netizens are suspecting that their popularites combined in the home theater will bring their fames to an unimaginable scale. Many are already labeling this drama as the hit production of 2007 and are positive that Eric and Yoon Eun Hye's popularity will change future dramas.

Answering the 7 Toughest Interview Qs

By Kate Lorenz, CareerBuilder.com Editor

There you sit, waiting to be ushered into your interview. Your suit is pressed, your shoes are shined and your resume is top notch. But, as the minutes tick past, you feel a mounting sense of doom as you anticipate the questions that will cause a deafening silence during the interview.

Want to avoid an interview disaster? Check out these tough interview questions and their suggested responses:

Q: "What are your weaknesses?"
"Don't take this literally and go into a detailed explanation of your weaknesses," says John Challenger, CEO of global outplacement consultancy Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. He advises taking a potential weakness and putting a positive spin on it.

A: "I am very detail oriented and in some industries that may not be a good fit. But for this accounting position, I think this trait truly will help me excel."

Q: "How would you solve this problem?"
Challenger says that these kinds of hypothetical questions can be risky. First of all, they may not like your answer; if they do like it, there's a chance they will steal it. That's what happened to June Sullivan when she interviewed for an activity director's position at a long-term care facility. When asked about marketing ideas, June laid out her entire plan. Well, she didn't get the job, but later recognized some of her strategies being used by the facility.

A: "I think you can increase product awareness by enacting some marketing strategies that could employ advertising, direct mail or media placements."

Q: "Why did you leave your last job?"
Again, Challenger suggests presenting everything in a positive light. An interview is not the time to dish the dirt on your previous employer.

A: "The company just wasn't a good fit for my innovative personality. But what I learned is that organizations have distinct personalities just like people do. Now I know to concentrate my job search on companies who value independent thinking and alternative methods."

Q: "Why do you want to work here?"
Questions like these require you to do your homework before the interview.

A: "I want to be a part of a global company that last year alone invested $1.4 million in research and development of eco-friendly industrial processes."

Q: "Tell me about yourself."
This is a chance for you to shine -- but not to tell your life history. Begin by listing your traits and accomplishments you feel are relevant for the position. Don't delve into personal information unless it relates to the position you're vying for.

A: "I am very creative and resourceful. I have been a sales manager for the past five years and used my creativity to devise unique incentives to keep the sales representatives motivated. Because of this my sales team earned numerous company awards."

Q: "Tell me about the worst boss you ever had."
Take the high road and don't give into the temptation to vent any past frustrations.

A: "While none of my past bosses were awful, there are some who taught me more than others did."

Q: "What are your goals?"
This is best answered by reiterating your objective statement on your resume. Keep your aspirations to be a vice president of marketing, own your own company or retire at 40 to yourself.

A: "I want to secure a civil engineering position with a national firm that concentrates on retail development. Ideally, I would like to work for a young company, such as this one, so I can get in on the ground floor and take advantage of all the opportunities a growing firm has to offer."

A fairy tale love story in Princess Hours

Make way for royalty! One of South Korea’s top rating series for 2006 is about to make waves on Philippine television starting on December 18. Princess Hours, touted as a breakthrough in K-dramas features the life of the Korean nobility in a way never before done on the small screen. Filipino Koreanovela fans will surely fall for Princess Hours touching and very kilig love story.

Princess Hours’ huge success is greatly placed on the series’ inventive story line, the exquisite cinematography and fresh young cast which featured breakout stars Ju Ji Hoon (Gian), Yoon Eun Hae (Janelle), Song Ji Hyo (Monique) and Kim Jeung Hun (Troy). The K-drama was so popular, that the series was extended to 24 episodes from its original 20.

With elaborate costumes and historical locations, the ‘fairy tale’ unfolds with Gian, the crown prince of Korea, whose world unexpectedly collides with commoner, Janelle. Because of the emperor’s sickly state, the royalty hustles into finding the prince a bride, bringing out the long kept secret of an arranged marriage between the grandchildren of the former emperor and his best friend, who turns out to be Janelle’s grandfather. When Gian’s girlfriend, ballerina Monique rejects his marriage proposal, he accepts Janelle as his wife, to teach the royal family a lesson. Things get a bit more complicated though with the return of Gian’s cousin, former crown prince of Korea, Troy and his mother, to the country. With Gian’s father succeeding the throne after his older brother’s death, rules of the nobility sent Troy and his mom to exile in London. Upon his return, not only does he want his birthright back but his cousin’s bride as well.

A drama that will surely endear Koreanovela fans of all ages. Catch Princess Hours this December 18 on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida block.

NEWS: Goong S not Goong 2 ?

Gunglog

Goong's production comany Eight Peaks revealed that the sequel to Goong has been the center of attention for many. The question is will Yoon Eun Hye, Joo Ji Hoon, and Kim Jung Hoon return to film Goong 2? On the 24th the chairman of Eight Peaks said, "If we were to film Goong 2, it is of course appropriate to have Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Jung Hoon to star in it. I have already received many requests from faithful fans to keep the original cast. They have been continuously writing and calling us to express their thoughts. We definately understand their feelings. It could be a possibility that Yoon Eun Hye and Kim Jung Hoon will star in Goong 2, but we do not have a concrete plan yet. There has been a bit of contradicting problems for Goong S. Once we solve this problem, we will start our filming plans." He also revealed, "I had already discussed with Group Eight about Goong 2. We had an oral agreement to not film this with Group Eight but with another company. During the conference on the 10th we requested Group Eight to cancel the name Goong so they had no choice but to change it to Goong S. If Group Eight is still using the name Goong, then we will have no choice but solve this according to the laws." On the 24th, Eight Peaks revealed, "It is illegal for Group Eight to use the trademark 'Goong' as their own to carry on outside propaganda. This act will cost my company to have a massive loss. It will also interrupt our plans of filming the real Goong 2. We had plans to sign with Taiwan for the usage of the mangas. But once Taiwan heard about the Goong 2 news, the contract was immediately destroyed."

This is the carrier single of Ms.Agot Isidro's newest album "The Island" . It is a compilation of easily-listening, bossa-nova album.

boy i miss you.. i feel you wanting me over the telephone
and i'm still here alone and though it seems so close to a perfect day..
when everything just went my way, i've had the longest night i've ever known..

i wish that i was making love to you tonight.. (wish i was makin love)
i've never seen so many stars or a moon as bright..
and baby you're what's missing, could make it all just right..
and i wish that i was making love to you tonight..

in the darkness i feel my empty bed covered with loneliness
we pay for our success in ways we never could have dreamed before..
babe, i need you more and more and nothing ever makes me want you less..

i wish that i was making love to you tonight.. (wish i was making..)
i've never seen so many stars and a moon as bright..
and baby you're what's missing, could make it all just right..
and i wish that i was making love to you tonight..

wish that i was making love..

[Yoo Eun-Ho's (Sohn YeJin) song during Dong-Jin's wedding reception in Alone in Love]

korean:

너에게 나 너무너무 많은 얘길 했나봐
나도 모르는 내 속에 끝없는 욕심의 말들 내마음이 앞서

to you i seem to have said many many words too many
my heart continues to be greedy without my understanding
it remains even when my words stop my breathing
because i try and try and still you don't seem to understand my heart
the wound that only gets worse as i treat it over and over
i am not to recover but these words i want to say regardless

thank you. why it was so difficult for you.
these words that came back too many times and are getting forgotten
thank you really.

these words that came back too many times and were almost forgotten
thank you really.

50 Things U Can Learn Fr A KDrama

1) Hot, rich, younger men love fat, older vulgar women.

2) If you have a best guy friend, he is in love with you. And secretly you are too.

3) You and your boyfriend will always playfully chase each other on an ice rink, at the beach, or in the leaves. And you'll laugh for no reason and your boyfriend will hit you "playfully" but the force of his push will have you flying across the room. But it's okay. Cuz you're still laughing like a crazy person.

4) Brothers/cousin/uncles-newphews will always love the same girl.

5) You're allowed to make uturns wherever you want in Korea. And there is never traffic on the side you want to u turn to.

6) There is a super quick payment device that allows you to pay a bill quickly enough for a guy to run immediately out of a restaurant after his angry girlfriend storms out.

7) Everyone has cancer.

8) If you're sick, all you need is an IV to make you feel lots better.

9) There is vomit and urine all over Seoul at nights.

10) Fighting at a pojangmacha with a random stranger is merely part of a normal night's event.

11) Soju must cost 10 cents. Everyone drinks it everyday all the time, especially the poor people.

12) If you're rich, you're a jerk.

13) If you're poor, you're an angel.

14) Women sleep and wake up with a full set of makeup on.

15) You're not studying hard enough unless you get a nosebleed.

16) If you have a nosebleed, you most definately have cancer. And you have no money to pay for the surgery that will save your life. And your liver is missing. We're not sure where it went, but it's making your cancer progress faster.

17) If you work in a sool jeep, you have massively curly hair and wear flashy colors from the early 90's.

18) You always order orange juice or coffee at a cafe. And you never drink it. EVER.

19) You will always call your boyfriend by his job title. Or simply sunbaenim. Never his name. Never. He doesn't have one.

20) If you TRULY love each other, you must die together in the end. Frozen outside instead of finding shelter like sane people. Just frozen....

21) You go to America you come back miraculously successful. You go to England you come back amazingly fashionable. You stay in Korea the only thing that changes is your hairstyle.

22) And if you come back with no apparent reason then it's because you have cancer.

23) Everyone always goes to the same hospital no matter where they are.

24) If you stand out in the rain for more than five minutes, you'll end up with a fever and vertigo and people will rush you to the hospital to get some magic IV. And instead of taking an ambulance or driving they'll race you on their back.

25) Even if you're poor and can't eat, you never wear the same clothes twice.

26) If you play a poor kid, you always have dirt on your face and your hair is always messy.

27) If you're saving someone from being hit from a car, you'll push them out of the way and wait for the car to hit you instead. biggrin.gif couldnt be more true, their like a deer in headlights

28) Everyone has a long lost sister/brother/twin. Usually one they didn't know about.

29) If you don't want to answer your phone, you can't just turn it off. The battery
needs to be taken out.

30) All korean men can drink hard, smoke long, sing well and play piano. Usually all at the same time. And at the same restaurant that has a piano that they let anyone use.

31) If you're in a relationship, you must at one point leave and have your lover tearfully come RIGHT before you board the plane (vice versa applies as well. You can be the chaser). 60% of the time you see each other, the other 40% you're roaming around in circles and pass each other about six times, but miraculously never see them.

32) If you're getting off a plane, you're ALWAYS wearing sunglasses. ALWAYS.

33) All guys wear hideous tracksuits zipped up to their neck. Even if all they're doing is jumproping.

34) Girls will always storm off because they're mad and the guy will stoically grab them by the arm and swing them back- and by magic, not dislocate their shoulders.

35) Guys always look like they're 6 feet tall, even if they're only 5'10. Thank you camera angles.

36) Guys like to wear foundation, eyeliner and sometimes a smudge of lipliner.

37) You always get stuck in an elevator with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. Even if there are six different elevators, you'll always be stuck in the same one with that bastard you hate (or just fought with).

38) Unless you're fabulously rich, your in-laws will always hate you.

39) So will your sister-in-law.

40) Your brother-in-law might be pining away for you.

41) There are only 2 ways to kiss. You either press your lips against theirs with your mouth completely shut, and just press away for a very long and uncomfortable time. OR you devour the other person and suck out their soul. In both instances, the world spins.

42) A guy will always get the right size ring, even if you're never held hands.

43) People stare off into space and ponder a lot. They'll just stop in the middle of the road and watch a leaf on a tree for a good three minutes, and just ponder.

44) You'll get pregnant the first time you have sex.

45) You'll get pregnant if he kisses you on the forehead.

46) Hell- you'll get pregnant if you hold hands.

47) If you overcome great obstacles to be together, one of you must die. Probably due to cancer.

48) One korean man can kick the butts of 6 gangstas. Especially when they all stand in a circle and attack the guy one by one. Then when each of them get their butts OWNED, they wise up and attack the guy at the same time. Then the guy will get pulverized and bleed out onto the dusty concrete floor of the empty warehouse they've found to fight in. There will be a fire in a trashcan somewhere. And the girl will have watched this the entire time, screaming in horror. Instead of calling 119, she'll just watch and cry. But it's okay. Cuz the next day the guy will be fine with a few random bandages and a few face scars. But never a black eye.

49) It ain't a real fight unless the gangstas fight dirty with a stick or switchblade.

50) If you study in the states (perferably Harvard), you are one of the top students and can speak perfect English (as assumed by the reactions of those around you). Why the rest of the world OUTSIDE of the TV can't understand a single word uttered out of your melodramatic mouth is beyond me.

THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

Thedevilwearsprada_1

Title: The Devil Wears Prada

Genre: Comedy / Drama

Plot Outline: A naive young woman comes to New York and scores a job as the assistant to one of the city's biggest magazine editors, the ruthless and cynical Miranda Priestly.

Cast: Meryl Streep , Anne Hathaway , Emily Blunt , Stanley Tucci , Adrian Grenier , ...

My Review: The movie is a very good adaptation from the book... The story was so true not only amongst the fashion industry but in the general sense that however we deny it, everybody would love to be in the "IN" crowd. Anyways, one big attraction about this movie is superb casting... Meryl Streep as the infamous Miranda is very realistic... its as if she made the character herself, though very ruthless in words & cynical in every creation but she never hid it that she's still a mother. And the way she poured her heart to Andy, so composed yet you could still feel the hurt in her heart... Andy, the character played by Anne Hathaway, is another example of the swan princess... her transformation was totally a surprised beacuse of her no-to-fashion character. She made every dress she wore a sensation. She was reall stunning in every way...

CHANEL

Coco_chanel

Coco Chanel
She was shrewd, chic and on the cutting edge. The clothes she created changed the way women looked and how they looked at themselves

By the late '60s, Chanel had become part of what she once rebelled against and hated — the Establishment. But if one looks at documentary footage of her from that period, one can still feel the spit and vinegar of the fiery peasant woman who began her fashion revolution against society by aiming at the head, with hats. Her boyish "flapper" creations were in stark contrast to the Belle Epoque millinery that was in vogue at the time, and about which she asked, "How can a brain function under those things?" Something that Chanel can never be accused of is not using her brain. Her sharp mind is apparent in everything she did, from her savvy use of logos to her deep understanding of the power of personality and packaging, even the importance of being copied. And she was always quotable: "Fashion is not simply a matter of clothes. Fashion is in the air, born upon the wind. One intuits it. It is in the sky and on the road."

It is fitting, somehow, that Chanel was often photographed holding a cigarette or standing in front of her famous Art Deco wall of mirrors. Fashion tends to involve a good dose of smoke and mirrors, so it should come as no surprise
